You will find our online store to be different (no, seriously, we ARE different):

• We are specialized. Saltwater ONLY. Natural Reef systems being our true area of expertise
• The Widest Selection? Nope... But that's BY DESIGN
• Free Shipping? Nah. How about Free Return Shipping?
• Lowest Prices? How about "unbeatable prices" when you learn all the extras and special care you get that you won't get anywhere else?
• We are also a Bay Area custom reef design/build/service company.... and because of that:
• You'll find that we don't carry:
  • Calcium Reactors (too finicky and "contraptionary")
  • Phosphate Reducers (Bio-Pellets are far superior)
  • Metal Halide or Power Compact Lighting (LEDs and T5's far superior)

We also offer products and services you will not find on any aquatic products web site such as:

• Euro-Style Door hinges from Blum (German company; pronounced "Bloom") (maybe you have some salt-creeped rusty door hinges that you've thought about replacing?)
• Soft-Click Door openers from Salice (Italian; pronounced "Sal-EE-chay") These little guys allow you to have doors with no handle hardware. just touch the door and it pops open.)
• Friction hinges from Hafele (German company; rhymes "Hey, Fella!") We use friction hinges in our own custom lift system to effortless move AquaIllumination LED modules up and out of the way (and they stay up!) and then they come back down with by simply pulling them back into position. They are also used for hinged lighting panels. You lift the panel up, it stays up. You pull it back down into position.
• We build our own aquarium cabinetry.

We have separated the wheat from the chaff to help you, our customer make the right selection for your aquarium needs but also guided by our expertise so that you will be confident in your choice.

Selection: We offer a choice selection of products by design; All of the components and products we offer have been tested and used in our own custom systems. It is our firm conviction that offering the widest selection of products often leads to confusion, chaos, and customer frustration.

We ONLY offer what we know works and use on our own systems, they are consistenly best-in-class, always high-performance, high-reliability, and super energy-efficient. That said, there are also well-made but in our opinion, overpriced, components on the market and we do not carry those either.

Shipping: Here's the good news. We may not offer free shipping (occasionally we will have a special that includes free shipping), but if you need to return it, it's a click away and we pay for it. There are some exceptions, such as very heavy items (salt, sand, chillers, etc).

Prices: When it comes to prices, we have the "best" prices but we are not trying to compete by offering the lowest price. We offer product and service extras you will not find anywhere else.

ONE example, the T5 reflectors we sell have been wiped down with food-grade silicone oil to repel salt-creep, the bulb clips are included in the price and we replace the standard nuts and bolts with stainless steel aircraft hardware.
