Product Description

Brightwell Aquatics NeoMarine Salt Mix is a new, American-made, welcome addition to the marine aquarium hobby/business.

NeoMarine Salt provides all major, minor and trace elements, including unique elements known to be utilized in the production of biological pigments (biochromes) in precise natural seawater ratios.

NeoMarine is manufactured in Brightwell Aquatics production facility in Pennsylvania. NeoMarine is not outsourced as many competing US-manufactured salts are.

Some unique features of Brightwell Aquatics' NeoMarine Salt:

  • Elements are provided by individual salts (no seawater evaporite is used)
  • Individual salts allow for consistent formulation and appearance to the finished salt mix
  • Ingredients are measured using an extremely accurate process
  • Each batch of NeoMarine is blended in a dry, clean environment.
  • Small batches are created and lot numbered to maintain the highest standards of quality control
  • NeoMarine utilizes ingredients of superior grades, and contains no detectable ammonia, nitrate, phosphate, or organic substances at standard specific gravity
  • It dissolves quickly and completely to create crystal clear water.

NeoMarine has been extensively tested over a multi-year period with 100% success on all manner of marine corals, crustaceans mollusks, fishes, and desirable algae.

All ions in NeoMarine salt are formulated to be present in natural seawater concentrations. Conservative minor and trace elements are not depleted in marine environments and are not part of the NeoMarine formulation. NeoMarine is not formulated to have enhanced concentrations of certain elements at the expense of sacrificing others and creating a solution with grossly inaccurate elemental ratios; this formulation is based wholly on current marine science data and extensive testing.

Mixing Directions: Dissolve approximately 4 oz., or half a cup, of salt mix in each gallon of purified water to obtain a target specific gravity between 1.021 - 1.024 g/cm3, and adjust as needed by adding more salt or water to increase/decrease specific gravity, respectively.

We use the method below to quickly create 5-gallon batches of NeoMarine Saltwater:

  • Fill jugs or buckets 1/3 to 1/2 full of RO/DI or other purified water.
  • Dissolve approximately 2-1/3 to 2-1/2 cups of salt mix in each 5-gallon jug of purified water. Seal and swirl to mix.
  • Open and fill jugs with water to 5-gallon level
  • The turbulence in adding the remaining water will help mix the salt with the original water even more rapidly.
  • Grab a jug (or covered bucket) by the handle in each hand and twirl them (clockwise/counterclockwise). Set the jugs/buckets down and rock them forward and back, and side-to-side a few times. The salt will be completely dissolved.
  • You should obtain a target specific gravity between 1.021 - 1.024 g/cm3.

It is strongly recommended that water purified via reverse osmosis and/or deionization be used for seawater preparation. Add the required amount of water and salt to a clean container such as a large plastic pail and mix it thoroughly with a submersible pump. Always use an accurate hydrometer or (preferably) refractometer to determine the specific gravity of prepared seawater.
