As much as we'd like to sell these units, the ozone output destroys the desired bacteria you are trying to propagate with the Bio-Pellet reactor.

Red Sea 50mg per hour Ozonizer. Includes 250 gram Dryer Unit. Use of an ozonizer is preferable and superior to UV sterilizers and will supercharge your skimmer. Do NOT overdo it with ozone as it will cause your skimmer to stop functioning. A good level that is safe, easy and does not require extensive electronic ORP metering is to set the ozonizer at 5 mg per hour per 25 gallons.

Some aquarists get very nervous at the thought of using an ozonizer without some kinid of ORP monitoring. With the Neptune Apex controller we offer, you can certainly do that. We agree with Robert Fenner in that it is really not necessary as long as you keep your ozone level low. The biggest problem with any kind of electronic probe is accuracy and calibration. ORP is also not a direct measurement of anything except POTENTIAL. It is far simpler to set your ozonizer as shown below.
