Full Disclosure: There are a few reviews out on the Internet with complaints that Instant Ocean Gel Foods are "loaded" with Phosphates.... Of course they are. ALL foods are "loaded" with Phosphates. Phosphates are necessary for life; it's necessary for the reproduction of DNA. The gelatin that is used to bind the food keeps it from becoming "Phosphate Soup". Most frozen foods have some amount of liquid, which melts almost immediately after being in the warm tank water, is NOT available for the fish or other creatures as food because it is pure liquid. The Instant Ocean Gel binder keeps what would usually become "Phosphate Soup", a solid (or gelatinous) chunk which will then be eaten.

Instant Ocean Seaweed Blend is ideal for herbivores. The blend contains highly nutritious algae such as Porphyra.sp and other vegetable matter. Simply rip open the packet and squeeze out the gel food. Swirl into the tank to break into bite-size chunks.

Instant Ocean Gel Foods are a perfect example of our philosophy: Frozen foods have always been the preferred food for marine livestock but it does take some effort and commitment (you have to pull the cubes out of the freezer, pop them out of the container into a cup of aquarium water... wait a few minutes to thaw. One can see how flake food begins to look more appealing); hence many aquarists will default to dry flake food because of convenience.

Instant Ocean Gel Foods provide the convenience of dry flake food with all the beneficial nutrition of frozen food. All of our tests with Instant Ocean Gel Foods indicate better feeding response as compared to any dried food.

The packets are sealed and can simply be torn open and squeezed into the tank. For some coral-loving foods, such as Cyclo-Peeze Gel, we recommend mixing the gel into a container of tank water to disperse uniformly before feeding.
